The Poʻouli or Black-faced Honeycreeper was one of Hawaii’s earliest native inhabitants.
After an unsuccessful effort to get the last few remaining birds to breed, the last po’ouli died in 2004.
The native Hawaiian species was officially declared extinct in 2004.
